I'm Scott Armistead, founder of Performance Medicine —a consultancy dedicated to enhancing performance medicine through effective rehabilitation, performance strategies, and long-term health for athletes and athletic individuals.
As a former age group international, semi-professional, and American Collegiate goalkeeper with over a decade of experience in professional soccer, I specialize in bridging the gap between sports rehabilitation, performance science, and the unique demands of athlete movement.
I’ve collaborated with title-winning clubs in Major League Soccer, assisting top-level athletes in returning to play stronger, smarter, and more resilient. My mission is to provide evidence-based, specific rehabilitation strategies that prioritize longevity, performance, and specific physical and cognitive challenges.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting elite athletes and goalkeepers across every level of the game—from academy prospects to international and veteran professionals. I’ve collaborated with top-tier organizations such as Seattle Sounders FC, FC Cincinnati, FC Tucson, and the Barça Residency Academy, helping teams achieve significant milestones like the MLS Supporters’ Shield, Conference Finals, and their first playoff appearances in club history. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach to goalkeeper performance, rehabilitation, and performance therapy through ProGK Rehab, ensuring that every plan is both elite-level and individualized for long-term health.
No two athletes—and no two performance environments—are the same. My approach is grounded in Performance Medicine, integrating clinical expertise, performance science, and sport-specific demands to guide decision-making across rehabilitation, return-to-play, and performance optimization.
Rather than treating injury and performance as separate processes, I focus on understanding the athlete’s physical profile, medical history, performance demands, and tactical role within their sport. For goalkeepers, this means aligning rehabilitation and performance strategies with positional requirements, playing style, and coaching philosophy—whether that involves high-line sweeping, repeated explosive actions, or sustained shot-stopping demands.
By collaborating closely with athletes, coaches, and medical and performance staff, I ensure that each progression is evidence-informed, context-specific, and adaptable. The goal is not simply a return to participation, but a durable return to performance that respects the athlete’s strengths, decision-making demands, and long-term development.
